Low-cost carriers expand where there is demand

Wizz Air and Blue Air low-cost carriers are set to add 12 andrespectively 7 new flights to their network by yearend, with onlythree of them to be operated from Bucharest's Băneasa airport,while the rest of flights will be introduced from airports ofBacău, Târgu-Mureş, Cluj and Constanţa.

While both companies fly toward most internationaldestinations from the Băneasa airport, which they entered with thefirst flights six years ago, these also targeted airports outsideBucharest, where they are poised to cement their position.

"Blue Air will introduce five new flights from the Bacăuairport, one from the Constanţa one and one from the Băneasaairport. We are expanding on the routes where we have demand for,"stated Florentina Ivan, PR manager with Blue Air.

Hungary's Wizz Air will also add new flights to its network fromairports outside Bucharest.
