The Romanian IT market will rise by 5-10% this year andeverything depends on the country's economic growth, maintainsMihai Guran, country manager of Dell, one of the world's biggest PCmanufacturers. "If the economy expands by around 2%, as someexperts anticipate, it's clear the IT market, closely tied to thereal economy, will also grow considering most orders come from thesegment of SMEs. If they fare well, the market will also farewell," stated Guran in an interview with ZF. He added he expectedthe market to go up by between 5 and 10% this year. Dell's Romanianturnover is expected to rise by 7-8 or 10% this year, the company'sofficial also said. According to Guran, Dell Romania last year sawthe number of sold units drop by 46.8% from 2008, but the declinewas lower than the market's contraction, of 55.8%. The company'smarket share expanded, though, from 9.1% in 2008 to 10.9% in 2009,with Dell ranking fourth on the domestic market of PCmanufacturers.
