Ten days after Parliament passed the law on fiscalresponsibility, the institutions that are supposed to appointrepresentatives to the so-called Fiscal Board, which oversees theconsistency of the Government's economic policy, are in no hurry tomake any nominations.
The law was approved on March 30- the Government asked that itbe discussed under the emergency procedure - and has been sent tothe Presidential office for promulgation, but the head of state hadnot signed the promulgation decree by yesterday evening.
The five members of the Fiscal Board must be nominated by theNational Bank of Romania, the Romanian Banks Association, theRomanian Banking Institute, the Academy of Economic Studies (ASE)and the Romanian Academy.
ASE is the only institution to have made a proposal - TatianaMosteanu, dean of the Faculty of Finance, Insurance, Banks andStock Exchanges.
