Poiana chocolate plant of Braşov finally closed

Poiana chocolate plant of Braşov, which has been through threepolitical regimes in about 100 years and was US-based Kraft Foods'first investment in Romania, has completely shut down with thetransfer of the last two lines to Ghimbav, to a plant owned by RAPGroup.
RAP Group, a former equipment supplier of Kraft, has this monthstarted production for the US company in a new location in Ghimbav,Braşov county. The group controlled by businessman Radu Popeia ofBraşov is likely to launch its own confectionery brands, but so farhas not registered any trademark with the State Office forInventions and Trademarks.
Investments in the chocolate plant of Ghimbav, with a 4,500 squaremetre area, can be put at over 5m euros. Around 70 people currentlywork in this location.
"The employees RAP took over from Kraft Foods were transferred tothe Ghimbav plant," specified Kraft Foods Romaniarepresentatives.
Most production lines of Poiana plant were transferred to a plantKraft Foods owns in Bulgaria in late 2009, so that most products ofthe US company's domestic portfolio are imported.
