With the start of this year's "Rabla" (car scrappage scheme),most importers and dealers on the Romanian market have started newdiscount campaigns to attract clients.

Fourteen of the 43 car brands present on the Romanian market havealready published offers for the scrappage scheme on their officialwebsites, in the hope of attracting more clients into their salescentres. The discounts are targeted at individual clients afternearly two months in which car sales were made almost exclusivelyto companies. Out of 8,600 cars sold in the first two months, nearly 75% went to companies, which do not use the scrappagescheme.

According to a ZF survey, the biggest market discounts target FordFocus cars, whose price has been cut by 6,560 euros from 16,550euros to 9,990 euros, with the discount incorporating the 2,700price cut, i.e. the three 900-euro vouchers that can be used aspart of the scrappage scheme and the discount offered by theimporter. The second-biggest discount is offered for the NissanNote, whose price is down 5,510 euros to 7,980, with thethird-biggest discount offered for the Seat Ibiza, down by 5,089euros to 6,963 euros. The data were collected by ZF from thecompanies' websites on March 23rd.
