The hotel owned by Negoita brothers, Rin Grand, due to operate at full capacity this spring, and Radisson hotel located in Victoria Square, scheduled to become operational this April, will boost Bucharest's four and five-star accommodation capacity by around 50%, bringing 2,000 new rooms onto the market. At present, there are around 4,000 rooms in four and five star-hotels in Bucharest
"We took into account the insufficient accommodation capacity when we decided to build a 1,500-room hotel, which doubled capacity on the four-star hotel segment. We found out that in the case of important events, part of participants would also look for accommodation in neighbouring cities, such as Pitesti and Ploiesti," said Liviu Negoita, one of the owners of Rin Grand hotel, which entailed investments standing at 60 million euros.
For the NATO summit, 1,000 rooms of Rin Grand Hotel have already been booked, in the context where around 3,000 members of official delegations and around 3,500 journalists are expected to arrive. Rooms in Hilton, Novotel, Sofitel, Howard Johnson, Capsa or Marriott have also been booked for the NATO summit.
Another important project is that of Bucuresti Turism, which has so far invested 40 million euros to modernise the former Bucuresti hotel. The hotel will be opened this autumn under the Radisson brand of Carlson Hotels Worldwide American group. Radisson will bring 424 rooms onto the five-star segment, which will be added to the current 1,600 and it will be the biggest hotel of the capital city in this category. At present, the biggest five-star hotel is Marriott, with a number of 402 rooms.
The Bucharest hotel market has not received such a big number of rooms in recent years. Recently opened hotels include Novotel, Phoenicia or Ramada, on the four-star segment, but only Phoenicia that has a capacity of over 300 rooms. At the same time, another five-star hotel, namely Carol Parc Hotel, was opened at the end of last year, but it has a low capacity, of 19 rooms. The price of a four-star room ranges between 100 and 200 euros per night, while the price of a five-star room exceeds 600 euros.
