The acquisitions parents traditionally make in autumn for thechildren who start school were smaller than last year, and ordersfrom the state and firms were also down.
The start of school, a period when over 3 million pupils begincourses again, and which generally brings rising revenues for thePC market as well, was a weaker commercial season than in previousyears, Bogdan Iftemie, the sales manager of Acer Romania, toldZF.
The leader of the domestic PC market in the third quarter soldaround 30,000 portable PCs (notebooks and netbooks), down 5% from ayear ago, said Iftemie.
"(...) The school start season is not over, yet, and it has beenweaker than in previous years. Also, the market of projects withthe state is almost inexistent, and the enterprise market is weak. The consumer segment is quite good and is the only one bringing usrevenues," Iftemie said.
He expects the market to grow by 10-15% in the last three months ofthe year, considering the winter holidays period usually bringssignificant sales.
On the other hand, Asus Romania, ranking second on the market, inthe first nine months of the year sold 55,000 units, up 55% againstlast year.
