3m euros spent to relaunch Horticons tins

17.03.2006, 00:00 11

"We want to relaunch the Horticons brand on the local market. The potential of the tinned food market is very big and locating the plant in a farming area, close to Constanta is good for export," says George Wadith, managing partner of KlevekFactory, a company with British and Lebanese shareholders, which bought the tin factory Horticons Fetesti. After the first year of production, the company estimates a turnover standing at 6 million euros. This year, the company will have a production capacity of 15,000 tonnes, reaching 35,000 tonnes by the end of 2007. The company''s next move is to start exporting to states in Western Europe and the Near East. KlevekFactory acquired the Fetesti-based company in March 2005. The Fetesti plant had been closed since 2003, and KlevekFactory shareholders decided not to start production last summer in order to be able to retool the plant. Last year, the company invested some 1.5 million euros to reorganise production. ZF
