4% more passengers for Malev on Bucharest-Budapest route

Hungary's Malev, a top five regular airline in Romania,transported 30,000 passengers in the first three months of thisyear on the Bucharest-Budapest route, up 4% from a year ago."Aircraft load factor came close to 50% in the first quarter, 2%higher from the same period of last year. Our figures were betterin the first three months of this year," said Adam Hegedus, head ofcorporate communications with Malev. The Hungarian airline has fourdaily flights on the Bucharest-Budapest route, two flights per dayon Cluj-Napoca-Budapest and a daily flight on Targu-Mures-Budapestroute. The company gave up flights to Timisoara and Iasi as theywere not profitable. Hegedus did not specify how many passengerswere transported on these routes. Malev's first-quarter revenuesmay amount to some 3.6m euros on Bucharest-Budapest route,according to ZF estimates taking into account the number ofpassengers reported by the company and an average price of 120euros per ticket.
