Allianz-Tiriac, the leading insurance company on the market managed at the end of 2005 assets related to unit-linked life insurance policies worth 15.7 million euros, double as much as the previous year. At the end of 2004, the insurer managed assets related to unit-linked insurance worth some 7.4 million euros. These products are life insurance products with an investment component. Part of the premium paid by the insured party is intended to cover the insured risk, with the rest of the money being invested in fund units and the insured party taking the investment risk. Allianz-Tiriac manages eight investment programmes associated to life insurance policies. "About half of the funds paid by the insured clients this year have been directed, according to their own choice to the Progresiv investment programme, a high-risk programme," says Marius Onofrei, communication manager at Aliens-Tiriac. The Progresiv Programme invests the money of the insured clients in shares of European companies and saw the highest yield last year, standing at over 23%. ZF
