The National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF) will notuse free software that allows videoconferencing, such as Skype, saying that it can be targeted by cyber attacks, preferring insteadto buy a video communication system for 420,000 euros (VATincluded) with public funds. "Skype-like applications, which usepublic communication networks, are vulnerable to intrusions andaggressions," ANAF representatives said in response to a ZFrequest. According to them, the systems that will be purchased needto be secure because more often than not the data sent will beconfidential. According to an ad published on e-licitatie.ro, ANAFthis month organises an auction to acquire 44 terminals and 7 videoprojection sets consisting of a videoprojector and a screen.According to ANAF representatives, the videoconferencing system setto be bought will ensure communication between the institutionsheadquarters and its county divisions. The contract will be validfor 90 days since signing. The companies taking part in the auctionare required to have a minimum 500,000-euro average annualturnover.
