Banca Transilvania specialises in SMEs

21.06.2006, 18:53 7

Banca Transilvania (BT) will specialise in providing services to small and medium-sized enterprises, with the first changes due to take place this autumn, says Ionut Patrahau, deputy chief executive of the bank. "We will mainly target small and middle-sized enterprises, a segment on which we will specialise. We will introduce an improved client structure and, in order to sustain this change, we will also launch a new package of products and services," explains Patrahau. He says even a cap for big clients will be introduced, so that categories are clearly distinguishable. As far back as a few years ago, bankers announced that the SME segment would be the next step, after the forecasted saturation of the individual client segment, but until recently, few players had taken concrete steps in this direction. The only player specialising on this market is a small-sized bank, Pro Credit. In the last few months, several banks, from small players like Libra to BRD-SocGen, the second biggest bank in the system, have modified their offers, paying more attention to this segment.
