Carpatcement Holding held back by production limitations

21.02.2008, 18:30 9

Carpatcement Holding, the local branch of the German group HeidelbergCement, estimates this year's turnover will stagnate at the 288 million euros reached in 2007, due to production limitations. Last year, the company's three plants in Fieni, Deva and Bicaz operated at full capacity. The company will, therefore, start a four-year investment programme worth 150 million euros. Additionally, it plans to start building a new plant; a project that will attract investments worth 250-300 million euros. "We are overwhelmed. The market growth rate has surpassed even our most optimistic expectations. Last year, we produced at a nominal installed capacity of 3.5 million tonnes of cement. The other concrete and aggregates divisions will see an increase, however, their share in the consolidated turnover is still far too small," said Mihai Rohan, general manager of Carpatcement. The German group posted overall turnover worth 363 million euros, up 31% against the previous year, for all its three divisions - Carpatcement Holding, Carpat Beton and Carpat Agregate.
