n no more than a year, the Carrefour hypermarket network will start producing textiles domestically, under its own brand, Tex, in collaboration with domestic textile manufacturers. The Tex brand, brought by Carrefour on the domestic market in March, currently accounts for 9.5% of the sales made in the seven Carrefour hypermarkets, according to company data. "Currently, the Tex products are imported, but in six to twelve months, we intend to start manufacturing these products in Romania, as well, in partnership with a few manufacturers," stated Andreea Mihai, the marketing manager of Carrefour Romania. The company will expand its own brand, Tex, to several categories of products, such as household textiles and accessories. Currently, Carrefour's private label covers various categories of ready-to-wear clothing. The Tex range is positioned on the average price segment. "In the store departments where we introduced the Tex brand, our own brands accounted for 20% of the total sales," specified Andreea Mihai. Other brands held by the retailer are Marca no. 1, Reflets de France and Carrefour, which cover several food and non-food products.
