Daewoo dealers clear stocks and focus on services

31.07.2008, 19:03 18

The dealer network of Ford Romania, which took over the business of Daewoo Romania and sells the models of the Korean brand on the Romanian market that were assembled until the end of May, are focusing on services and on the sale of spare parts. "In Bucharest, the stock allocated to the car fleet renewal programme has been sold almost entirely and will most likely run out in no more than one week. The dealers are now focusing on clearing the existing stock and on services and spare parts," stated Costel Meleanca, head of the Bucharest regional centre and head of marketing with Ford Romania, the former Daewoo Romania. He says that there are 30 cars left in stock for the dealers in Bucharest, mostly the Matiz model, but also the Nubira II, the medium car model of Daewoo and a Tacuma minivan, which continues to sell as the Chevrolet Tacuma in Western Europe. According to the statements of Catalin Gavra, the former general manager of Romcar, who took over as head of Tiriac Auto on July 1, there are Daewoo dealers who have expressed interest in becoming Ford dealers, although most of them need additional investments to comply with Romcar's standards.
