Local drug manufacturers will boost their exports by an average20% this year, according to ZF calculations based on data providedby companies, with players announcing their strategy to strengthentheir external presence as early as in the beginning of the year.
"We are happy to export because we collect the money faster,even from countries in the ex-Soviet bloc. Our business is on therise, but based on exports," said Drago[ Damian, CEO of TerapiaRanbaxy producer and president of the Association of Generic DrugsManufacturers in Romania (APMGR).
Romanian drug exports are put at less than 100 million eurosthis year, far lower than imports, which amount to 1.7 billioneuros per year.
The biggest drug exporter is Actavis, whose exports amounted to28 million euros last year, with the company budgeting a 15-20%rise for this year.
Another producer boosting its exports is LaborMed, which enteredseveral markets through the acquisition of Ozone brands last year.
