Glencore Protein Romania, the local subsidiary of Swiss trader Glencore International, one of the top three players on the cereal trade market, reported turnover worth 66 million euros (220 million RON) in 2007, up 6% compared with the previous year, when it posted turnover worth 62 million euros (217 million RON). The company had 12 employees last year, which placed it at the top of the productivity ranking in this sector, after each employee generated 5.5 million euros on average. However, the company's net profit declined last year and reached 0.6 million euros (2 million RON), from 2.2 million euros (8 million RON). Locally, the company's operations are run by Leontin Suciu, who did not wish to comment on Glencore Protein Romania's results last year. Apart from Glencore Protein Romania, the leading players on the cereal trade market are Alfred C. Toepfer International and Cargill Romania, followed by Agricover and Pioneer Hi-Bred Romania.
