Egnatia to change its name to Marfin-Egnatia Bank

17.07.2007, 19:45 12

Egnatia Bank, a medium-sized player on the banking market, is continuing the series of re-branding processes, which has been experienced over the entire banking market this year, with a planned name-change to reflect the changes the parent bank is undergoing. By the end of the year, the bank will be re-named Marfin-Egnatia Bank, and will modify its logo and brand colours accordingly. The changes come after the Greek market saw the completion of a merger between Egnatia Bank, Marfin Financial Group and Laiki Bank. The new brand - Marfin Egnatia Bank, is already present on the Greek market, with its distinctive colours being blue and green. "The new brand will be fully adopted by the end of the year and will be promoted by means of a media campaign," Stylianos Sofianos, chairman of Egnatia Bank, told ZF. This year, several banks are conducting re-branding campaigns following recent mergers and acquisitions. UniCredit Tiriac, the fourth largest bank on the market, which emerged midway through the year as a result of the merger between HVB Tiriac and UniCredit Romania, is currently promoting its new identity. A campaign to promote the MKB Romexterra brand is also currently underway, after the Hungarian bank MKB combined its name with its recent acquisition, Romexterra Bank.
