European Drinks: 1% profit margin

European Drinks, the company producing mineral water and juices, held by brothers Ioan and Viorel Micula, posted net profit worth 1.7 million euros last year, amid turnover worth 133.4 million euros, according to company data. The profit and turnover were down by around 10% (in RON) in 2007, against the previous year. "Mineral water and soft drinks sales derived by European Drinks last year saw an increase in terms of volume against 2006. The turnover decline was the result of intra-group transactions," explained Adrian Rotar, executive manager of European Drinks. He did not specify the volume growth rate, but forecasts an around 15% increase in volume for this year. Turnover of the European Food & Drinks group amounted to 882.5 million euros last year (2,945.3 million RON), up by around 10% against 2006, according to data provided by Viorel Micula, president of European Drinks. The biggest company in the group is Transilvania General Import-Export, which distributes European Drinks and European Food products.
