European Drinks holds 14.5% share of beer market

During this March and April, the European Drinks Group held a 14.5% share of the Romanian beer market, in terms of volume. The figures come from research carried out by Gfk Consumer Scan, quoted by the Romanian producer. In December 2003, the group held a 9% share of the market. European Drinks entered the beer market last year with Meister and Burger. In 2003, the company's main rival on the beer market, Brau Union, controlled a 32.3% market share. Others competitors included Interbrew (15.4%), SAB Miller (15.3%) and Tuborg Romania (7%). European Drinks entered the beer market following an investment worth tens of million dollars, which has resulted in an annual production capacity of one million hectolitres. The beer market in Romania stands at around 12 million hectolitres per year, with its value put at 500-600 million euros. ZF
