Five companies get 90% of the money on telecom market

Orange, Vodafone, Romtelecom, Cosmote and RCS&RDS, thebiggest communications operators in Romania, last year got almost90% of the money paid by Romanians for communications and TVservices, reveal the data published by the companies and thetelecom data figures published by the regulatory authority(ANCOM).
Mobile telephony operators Orange and Vodafone remain the topplayers on the market with an almost 50% market share in terms ofrevenues in 2009.
The data reveal that Romtelecom and Cosmote together accounted foralmost 30% of the money paid by Romanians for communicationsservices last year, even though the calculation did not include theresults of companies such as Germanos or NextGen.
ANCOM's report and operators' financial data reveal, on the otherhand, that international communications groups (France Telecom,Vodafone and OTE/Deutsche Telekom) account for about 80% of therevenues on the communications market in Romania, whileRCS&RDS, the only major telecom controlled by a Romanian,accounts for less than 10%.
