Flights to Italy boost Carpatair turnover by 23%

Carpatair airline, controlled by businessman Nicolae Petrov, inthe first eight months of the year posted 22.5% higher turnoveragainst the same period of last year and a 5% higher occupancyrate, according to company information.


"In the first three quarters of 2010 we focused on developingthe Bucharest and Craiova operational bases and we continuedexpansion on Italy's market, by introducing new destinations anddirect flights," stated Paula Ardelean, vice-president withCarpatair, without specifying the value of the company'srevenues.
This year, Carpatair has introduced direct flights from Bucharestto Milan, Venice, Verona, Bologna, Ancona and Bari, as well as fromCraiova to Milan and Rome. Though these new routes, Carpatair hasentered the market segment where Blue Air and Wizz-Air low-costcarriers operate, for which Italy is a key market in terms of thenumber of passengers and a growth driver.
"We've bet on a higher number of frequencies and flightdestinations, varied schedules, and on multiple connectionpossibilities, which in August led to a 26% increase in the numberof passengers," specified Paula Ardelean.
