Ford's import operation taken over from Ţiriac by Americans

Paul Flanagan, 41, head of the National Sales Company of FordRomânia, which will take over imports and distribution of the brandon the Romanian market as of August 1, talks in his first interviewsince starting his term about the progression of the Romanianmarket in the second half of the year and about the impact of theVAT raise and of the "Rabla" car scrappage scheme on sales.


Flanagan and Ford's National Sales Company take over Ford'simports from Ion Ţiriac, one of the leading Romanian entrepreneurs.Ţiriac's sales people leave Ford at no. 1 of the importers' rankingfive months into the year, with a 9% market share and almost 600cars ahead of its main rival Volkswagen.
"Our target will be to remain no. 1 on the market until the end ofthe year, but it will be difficult considering the changes, and itis not our first priority. We pursue our own and our dealers'profitability, and we want to attract as many clients as possible,"Paul Flanagan said.
