IMF sends new representative to Bucharest

20.06.2006, 21:02 6

The Spaniard Juan Fern?ndez-Ansola will be the new representative of the IMF in Bucharest, replacing Graeme Justice, who is ending his term in office. Ansola has handled the Fund's relationship with Slovenia and Slovakia in the last few years, as head of the IMF assessment missions for the two countries. The Brit Graeme Justice began his term in Romania in January 2003, having previously worked in other developing countries such as Brazil and Ukraine. During the period when Justice was the resident representative of the IMF in Bucharest, Romania completed a stand-by agreement signed in 2001 and opened a precautionary stand-by agreement in July 2004. This spring, the Government relinquished the precautionary stand-by agreement that formally expires this summer.
