The salaries of employees in IT companies in western Romaniawill go up by an average 10% this year after last year specialistsin the field saw their wages up by more than inflation (10.10%),shows the latest salary survey conducted by human resources groupAIMS Human Capital. The study was conducted on a sample of 30companies (many of which foreign-held) in Timişoara, Cluj, Sibiuand Braşov, which together have over 6,200 employees.

"Most companies gave 3 to 20% raises in 2010. An average ofraises last year for all categories of employees (management andspecialists), however, amounts to 10.10%. An interesting fact, however, is that more than a third of respondent companies givebigger raises last year than those initially budgeted," believesŞerban Mrejeriu, Human Resources Consultant with AIMS Human CapitalRomania, a group that posted over 5.5 million euros in turnover in2009, a top 10 player on the Romanian recruitment market.

The salary increase was driven by the unexpected spike ininflation (over 6% last year), as well as by competition on thelabour market, which "dictated" higher raises in order to find highperformance employees.
