The latest debates on the modification of the Labour Code, abill proposed by the Foreign Investors Council and theRomanian-American Chamber of Commerce, failed again because oftrade unionists and because of representatives of employers'associations.
"We demand the resignation of Labour Minister Ioan Nelu Botişbecause of biased attitude to certain employers, because ofuntruthful statements, and because of favouring the interest offoreign companies, because of arrogance as to the interests ofemployers' and trade unions' associations," reveals the letter sentyesterday to premier Emil Boc by representatives of the five tradeunions (Cartel Alfa, CNSLR Frăţia, BNS, CSDR and Meridian) and byemployers' associations UGIR 1903, Conpirom and UNPR.
The bill modifying the Labour Code, which has been subject topublic debate for over a month, is set to reach its final form byFriday, the deadline given by premier Emil Boc.
This is the 13th modification of the Labour Code, which is set toenable employers to operate redundancies more easily, use moretemporary workers, and reduce the number of hours worked byemployees alongside the salary cuts, if the company's situationrequires it.
