LCS Conf can''t find employees

26.01.2006, 21:20 13

Cluj-based LCS Conf, a manufacturer of ready-to-wear clothing, is now facing a decline in its number of employees, due to workforce migration abroad. This has not been without repercussions, with the main effect being a slowdown in the growth pace of turnover. The company posted 7.3 million-euro (26.5 million RON) turnover in 2005, close to the turnover in the previous year, 7.1 million euros (25.8 million RON). "Our results witnessed a decline, even though turnover was higher and obtained with fewer people. This decline is due to several factors: the decline of the European currency, the migration of personnel to Spain and Italy, and the incredible increase in costs. We thought we would be able to make up for the negative factors, but it was rather difficult. The gain we ended 2005 with, one million RON, was lower than in 2004, when the gain was 2.5 - 3 million RON," Vasile Leordean, LCS Conf general manager told ZF Transilvania. He added that the company had lost 200 people last year, who either retired or left to work abroad. He went on by saying the company would like to hire new staff, but that people are not interested.
