Lukoil Romania, the third leading player on the local oilmarket, has budgeted over 5.6 billion lei (almost 1.4 billioneuros) in business for this year, 23% higher than last year,company officials said.
This is how the Russians at Lukoil set out to surpass thefinancial performance of 2008, a year all players on the market saywas one of significant growth, followed by two years of recessionin a row. Lukoil's business overshot the 1.2 billion-euro mark in2008.
Although demand for fuel may stagnate this year, oil companieswill stand to gain from the high prices of petrol and diesel thathave recently gone past 6 lei per litre. The petrol has become over5% more expensive since the beginning of the year, while the dieselprice has gone up by almost 9%.
Lukoil owns 300 filling stations in Romania. It also startedbranching out into electricity generation and does not rule outgreen power generation projects.
