Luncheon vouchers market stake: 1bn euros

The non-salary package that an employee gets rarely leavesluncheon vouchers out. They may seem like a minor perk, but beingsuch a widespread benefit, they created an over one billion-euromarket.
The number of stores with which voucher issuers have sealedpartnerships and the number of employees receiving vouchers hasreached an impressive level. Here are the figures: out of almostnine million employees, more than two million get luncheon vouchersfrom the companies they work for, Business Magazin reports.
The vouchers are offered only in the private sector, which includesaround 4.3 million employees, with thus half of eligible employeesgetting this perk. The number of stores accepting this type ofpayment is also high. "The vouchers issued by Edenred are acceptedin 50,000 affiliated stores countrywide," says Iulian Alexe,marketing and communication manager with Edenred ticket issuer, theformer Accor Services, the biggest player on the ticketmarket.
As a matter of fact, according to the PayWell 2010 survey carriedout by PricewaterhouseCoppers, luncheon vouchers make the perk mostoften offered by companies of Romania. Thus, 89% of companiescanvassed say they include this perk in employees' non-salarypackage and in previous years the percentage reached 75% onaverage.
