Companies need to constantly assess cost levels in order to staycompetitive on the market and should not hesitate to outsourceoperations if the decision can bring them significant savingswithout affecting the organisation's performance, Mihai Mutiu, 54,former HR manager of Alcatel-Lucent, told ZF in an interview.
"It is natural to outsource when the cost per person ofperforming a task is 25-30% higher than at a BPO (Business ProcessOutsourcing) company. I think the decision of the Alcatelmanagement was a very good one, especially since Wipro continues towork for Alcatel, only it has also added new clients," says Mutiu,who is currently in talks for a job with training and HRconsultancy Codecs.
Mutiu resigned as Alcatel HR manager at the end of February thisyear, two months after 521 employees were outsourced to Wiprooutsourcing company and to HP Romania's service centre. CurrentlyAlcatel-Lucent Romania has around 1,300 employees.
