Most homes built in Bucharest, Cluj and Suceava last year

The largest number of homes have been built in counties wherethe biggest and most powerful cities in Romania are located -Bucuresti-Ilfov, Cluj, Constanta, Timis, and Iasi. The top ten alsoincludes counties in Moldova, such as Suceava or Neamt, whereremittances of locals working abroad gave an impetus to the housingmarket, reveal data from the Statistics Institute.

Ten counties accounted for more than half of the 62,520 homesbuilt last year in Romania, while ten other counties saw less than4,000 homes built, accounting for only 6% of the total, reveals aZF analysis based on data from the National Institute ofStatistics.

The Bucuresti-Ilfov area tops the ranking with over 8,000 homes,followed by Cluj (6,720), Suceava (4,013), Constanta (3,943), andIasi (2,997), while at the bottom of the ranking are Mehedinti(118), Tulcea (262), Teleorman (281), Caras-Severin (308) andCovasna (321).

The counties are differentiated by the number of inhabitants, aswell as by the financial strength of county capitals. A largenumber of homes were also built in counties such as Neamt andSuceava, in part with the financial support of locals workingabroad.
