Bucharest's 6th sector, which provides access to theBucharest-Ploiesti motorway, is a genuine gold mine for the topthree players on the petroleum market (Petrom, Rompetrol andLukoil), with the filling stations generating the highest sales inBucharest owned by these companies being located in the Militariand Drumul Taberei districts. Areas such as Prelungirea Ghencea,Iuliu Maniu Avenue, Bucuresti-Pitesti Road and Virtutii Road areamong the top 10 areas favoured for building a petrol station,according to data from Petrom, Rompetrol, Lukoil Romania, and OMVRomania.
"Among the leading factors that influence a petrol station'ssales are its location, the price of fuel, the brand of the petrolstation, the services provided, as well as the station's size," sayPetrom representatives whose best-selling Bucharest station is theone located on Iuliu Maniu Avenue, at No. 486, in the 6th sector.Lukoil's best station in Bucharest is at No. 4 Prelungirea GhenceaStreet. Rompetrol's champion petrol station is in Chiajna, close tothe 6th sector, on the ring road.
The 1st sector, which ensures connection with Ploiesti, as wellas with Bucharest's two airports, the 6th sector, where themotorway to Pitesti starts from, and the 3rd sector, which providesthe connection to A2 Motorway are the hottest areas when it comesto building a petrol station.
According to data from Petrom, Lukoil Romania, Rompetrol and OMVRomania about the top ten stations by sales in each network, thebiggest sales are generated by the stations in the 1st sector,followed by the 6th sector, and by the 3rd sector.
No company has revealed the sales volume of its leading stationsoperated in Bucharest, considering the data to be confidential.
According to recent statements from Rompetrol representatives,the company sold around 13,000 litres of fuel per day on average.This would mean that a Rompetrol station makes around 4.5 millioneuros a year from the sale of petroleum products alone, withBucharest better than the average in the rest of Romania.
