Neon to illuminate Bechtel sites

25.03.2005, 00:00 39

Cluj-based company Neon Lighting is to provide electrical supplies and lighting services to the construction sites on the Transilvania highway to be built by US company Bechtel Corp.

"We won the tender last year and will supply the necessary electrical equipment to organise their construction sites," said Augustin Cosma, the general manager of the company. He did not reveal the value of the contract.

Bechtel representatives confirmed that the contact had been sealed, adding that Neon had already made eight deliveries, but without supplying any financial details.

Neon Lighting, which specialises in trade, is part of Neon Group, owned by businessmen Augustin Cosma and Ioan Nemeth. Neon Group also includes Neon Product (electrical lamps), Neomanager (management and technical expertise) and Neon Consulting (micro-production of electrical panels).

The group posted turnover in excess of 4 million euros last year, with this year's target being 5.6 million euros. "The opening of the new offices in Moldova and Banat will lead to an increase in sales and, implicitly, output," Cosma added.

The company will implement an investment programme worth nearly 1 million euros in order to expand and modernise its local production line.

"At the moment manufacturing is done at two locations which are too small for the volume of orders we now have and this is why we are investing in the construction of a three-storey building that will provide the necessary space," he said.

He added that another major goal for this year was expansion to foreign markets. transilvania@zf.ro
