Timisoara-based pharmaceutical producer Amniocen will invest some 300,000 euros in building a production lab conforming to European Union norms. "Considering the standards in place in 2004, the current production space is obsolete. The requirements that drug producers have to meet have been tightened a great deal over the last few years and the old lab no longer allows us to comply with the GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice standards). We hope to complete works in the autumn of 2005 and have the lab certified," Tatiana Raileanu, Amniocen deputy chief executive stated. The construction permit issued to the company in Timisoara specifies a 300 sqm space, though the size of the new lab will be set in line with the requirements of the National Drug Agency. "We expect to have the exterior finished this year so that we can take care of the indoor works for the new lab in the winter," Raileanu added. ZF
