The visit of Russian giant Gazprom to Bucharest has not resultedin any conclusion, following talks between the Romanian party - theMinistry of the Economy, Transgaz, and Romgaz, and the Russianparty. In fact, the only statement made by the Gazpromvice-president, Alexander Medvedev, after talks that went on for anhour and a half at the Ministry of the Economy was: "Negotiationswill continue," without further explanations on the actual pointsof negotiation.

The Romanian party did not offer a coherent explanation aftertalks ended, either.

The only concrete thing that the Minister of Economy AdrieanVideanu said was that Gazprom could have a direct relationship withRomgaz after the ongoing import contracts end.

Statements from the Ministry of Economy were very vague on theonly visit made by Medvedev to Romania since 2006.

"The agenda of discussions included topics of general interestfor bilateral cooperation in the energy sector. Discussions coveredgas importation from Russia, collaboration with Russia in view ofdeveloping storage facilities in Romania, as well as collaborationwith Transgaz to develop the transit network, and renegotiation toextend contracts for the transit of natural gas to Balkancountries, which expire in 2011. (...)" specified representativesof the Ministry of the Economy.
