Orange Romania, the second leading mobile telephony operator in Romania in terms of customer base, ended 2002 with 393 million euros in turnover.

Orange Romania's Q4 2002 turnover amounted to 104 million euros, up 7.21% since the same time in 2001 (97 million euros).
Orange Romania posted 378 million euro revenues in 2001. The data show the operator registered 3.96% increase in the core business-related revenues last year.
Orange Romania was logging 2,213bn ROL net profit at the end of 2001, according to the data released by the Finance Ministry. This is the ROL equivalent of approximately 85 million euros if calculated at an average 2001 ROL/EUR exchange rate of 26,027 ROL/EUR. Orange Romania was the top domestic non-financial company in terms of net profit last year. The net results for 2002 are not available yet.
Orange Romania's customer base had reached 2.211 million clients by the end of 2002, 35% more than the year before. The customer base at the end of 2001 amounted to 1.637 million.
The company registered 191,000 net additions to its customer base in Q4, 2002, while the number of Orange Romania subscribers and prepaid card users by the end of September last year had reached 2.020 million.
Orange has been operating in Romania since 1997 and has invested $630 million on this market ever since.
It launched the first multimedia messaging service in Romania last November, allowing clients to send and receive messages containing text, images and sounds.
Orange Romania's main shareholder is Orange, France Telecom's mobile telephony division.
