Patriciu starts sporting bet business

Businessman DinuPatriciu, regarded as the richest Romanian entrepreneur, hasstarted his move on the sporting bet market, a business on therise, having opened at least 14 agencies in Bucharest and othercities of the country, via Bet Arena Cafe company.

The billionaire hasjust launched two businesses run in street front shops - Mic.roRetail and Bet Arena Cafe, and is renting dozens of stores todevelop these businesses. "Wherever he finds a larger space, heopens both a Mic.ro food store and a sporting bet agency," retailmarket sources say.

Patriciu took hissporting bet network both to the secondary districts of Bucharestsuch as Berceni, Colentina, Pantelimon and Militari, as well ascentral areas such as Victoriei (Nicolae Titulescu) and Unirii(Corneliu Coposu).

As for the rest ofthe country, the former Rompetrol owner opened sporting betagencies in Brasov, Turnu-Severin, Targu Mures, Pitesti, Buzau andRamnicu-Valcea.

The sporting betmarket can be put at more than 100 million euros a year, with themajor players including companies such as Stanleybet, Public Betand Casa Pariurilor.

The crisis seems tobe a good opportunity for sporting bet firms such as Sky BetsSport, Playsis, and Public Bet, which have opened dozens ofagencies lately.
