Porsche Romania, the Audi importer on the local market, will launch the new Audi A4 Avant next month, the wagon version of the German constructor's D-class model. "The official launch of the model will take place during the second half of May. We have already received orders for the new model (by mid-last week), 20 to be precise," said Mihai Halmagianu, Porsche Romania's Audi brand manager. According to Porsche Romania officials, the sales target for the new model is 50 units for this year, with the A4 sedan model expected to sell around 1,000 units. The base price for the Audi A4 Avant is 25,800 euros, (excluding VAT), for the 1.8-litre, 160 horsepower, TFSI petrol-driven engine, while the sedan model with the same engine features costs 24,100 euros. According to previous statements from Mihai Halmagianu, Audi sales will increase by 13% this year and reach 2,900 units, with the average price standing at around 45,000 euros (VAT-less), which would put Audi's turnover in Romania at over 130 million euros. Audi's distribution network currently consists of 14 dealers, with another seven stores scheduled to open in cities such as Galati, Constanta, Bucharest, Iasi and Pitesti.
