Rekord targets 18.2m-euro turnover

27.04.2007, 18:47 5

Alba Iulia-based Rekord, a manufacturer of footwear, estimates an approximately 18.2 million-euro turnover this year, which accounts for a 280% increase in financial indicators against 2006, when the company saw sales worth 6.5 million euros. "The positive turnover this year is largely due to our company's decision to give up a big part of our production, which was under contract, and to manufacture footwear using our own materials. In 2006, we saw significant sales on the Romanian market compared with the previous years, therefore we were able to increase our portfolio of clients throughout Romania," Rekord's administrative manager, Anca Jivan, told ZF Transilvania. Exports account for 95% of the company's total turnover. In 2006, the company invested around 0.7 million euros in building a new facility, which covers 1,200 square metres in Alba Iulia, as well as in acquiring automated equipment to increase the company's productivity. "Due to the shortage of labour in our city, we decided to develop this investment in the Zlatna area, a place with a great deal of unemployed residents. The facility will begin operating the end of June 2007," stated Anca Jivan.
