Romania can be base country for investors

01.11.2004, 00:00 5

Romania has excellent potential to become the base country for investors in the Balkan region, said Allan Lafley, US' Procter & Gamble chairman, president and chief executive who was in Bucharest last week. "Romania is a large market, with growth prospects and political stability, it is close to Western Europe both geographically and culturally. Consumers value high quality and the workforce is well educated. Because of these factors Romania can play the role of a base country for many investors, especially for the Balkan region. P&G is one example from this point of view, as our Timisoara plant is the base from where we export in the (Balkan) region," Lafley feels. He added P&G Romania was one of the regions with the fastest annual growth pace in CEE, Middle East and Africa. P&G Romania posted over $150 million turnover for the FY2003/2004, after an average 15% growth in the last ten years. ZF
