Sales of Romanian language versions of Windows and Office up 50%

29.05.2008, 20:56 13

Sales of OEM (preinstalled) licences for the Windows operating system in Romanian and English are currently more or less evenly distributed, according to Microsoft Romania, the local subsidiary of the largest software manufacturer worldwide. "In large organisations, the use of Romanian versions of the Vista operating system and of Office 2007 went up by around 50% last year against 2006," Tudor Galos, manager of the Windows division of Microsoft Romania, told ZF. The company official specified that the sales were distributed equally between the two versions of OEM licences. "Fluctuations do occur, mainly as a result of the release of service packs (collections of software updates). For instance, Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista was launched in early April only in English, while the Romanian version will become available at the end of the month, which resulted in more sales of the English version during this period," added Galos.
