Samsung Romania president: Smartphone sales could double or triple

Smartphones still account for a small share, 15%, of the valueof mobile phone sales in Romania, but things will change fast overthe next few years, says YoungLak Jung, president of SamsungElectronics Romania.
Smartphones, which offer users the possibility to use on a mobilephone applications previously available only on a computer, willdouble or even triple their share of overall mobile phone sales inRomania over a short period of time, as was the case on WesternEuropean markets, with smartphones set to become the leading marketsegment, YoungLak Jung, president of Samsung Electronics Romania,told ZF in an interview.
"In Romania we expect smartphones to account for a 7% share of theoverall number of phones sold and for 15% of the market in terms ofvalue this year. But Romania will pursue the growth pattern of theWestern European markets, with the smartphone segment to see asignificant and fast market share increase over the next twoyears," says the president of Samsung Electronics Romania.
