"The company has the potential of doubling its Romanian sales inthe next five years, and I would like to be here when thishappens," Shachar Shaine told ZF in a 2004 interview, prior tobeing appointed chairman of URBB, the producer of Tuborg andCarlsberg beers.
After six years, Shaine's prophecy is coming true. From turnoverworth almost 50m euros in 2004, URBB is now going beyond the100m-euro threshold, while the number of employees stands at 800people from 254.
The manager, one of the longest serving in the industry, is nowat the end of the term he started six years ago and is to bereplaced by Hezy Ovadia as of January 1, 2011.
Looking back on his term, Shaine states now his biggestachievements were related to market position, the company'sentering new product categories and to the brands growingnicely.
URBB in the first nine months of the year posted an overallsales increase by 7% on entrance on new segments and promotioncampaigns. For the entire 2010, the company expects a 2-3% increaseon beer, 5-6% on juices and an overall advance of 7-8%.
