Sixt New Kopel takes over Bucharest car dealer for 6m euros

Israeli group New Kopel, which is involved in operationalleasing, rent-a-car, and sales of new and second-hand cars, hasacquired a Bucharest auto dealer this week for 5.7 million euros,according to information published on the Tel Aviv stockexchange.

The company's report specifies that the dealership taken overcovers 4,150 square metres, and involves a showroom, a servicecentre and a car parts storage facility. Company representativesdid not wish to specify the name of the dealer, which sells twoEuropean car brands, because the transaction has yet to becompleted. The dealer could either be a part of the VW-Audidistribution network or of the Renault-Dacia network, according toZF estimates.

"Yes, we have sealed a new transaction, worth almost 6 millioneuros, but there are as yet non-finalised aspects, so we cannotconfirm the public information on the stock exchange," said DudyPerry, general manager of Sixt New Kopel Romania. He added the newdealer could sell up to 100 cars every month, an ambitious targetconsidering that the around 400 dealers in Romania sold around18,000 cars in the first quarter of the year. The leading companyin the New Kopel group is Sixt New Kopel, with 14 million euros inturnover last year.
