05.12.2005, 19:48 10

Cellulose and paper producer Somes Dej, which is part of the Serviciile Comerciale Romane Group, held by businessman Stefan Vuza intends to launch silk paper on the market next year, with the product set to be sold both in Romania and abroad. "The silk paper is used to package more sensitive products (glassware, stainless steel items, clothing or shoes) and we reckon we will be the only domestic manufacturers in this department," Adrian Itu, Somes general manager told ZF TRANSILVANIA. He added the company would manufacture 20,000 tonnes of such paper every year. "Once production of silk paper starts, we will be manufacturing the entire range of products from 15 grams to 140 grams. Our intent is to integrate part of our cellulose production into the making of paper because paper is more profitable than cellulose," Itu added. The equipment used in the making of the new type of paper was purchased from Petresti-based Pehart, the current Pehart Tec, with the machine worth 400,000 euros. The company''s investments this year stood at some 6 million euros and were directed to retooling and boosting production capacities. ZF
