Timpuri Noi plant taken down to make room for a real estate project by IKEA

Almost 80% of constructions on Timpuri Noiindustrial platform of Bucharest have been taken down only fourmonths after the signing of a deal by which a firm controlled byIKEA Swedish group pledged to acquire the 5.1 hectare plot of landunder the plant with a view to developing a real estate projectmade up of housing units and office spaces.

"The demolition process will last for another one or two months.The debris is taken to Jilava," says Adrian Breazu, manager andshareholder of Timpuri Noi SA company, which decided to sell theland for almost 35m euros to Interprime Properties firm controlledby IKEA group through Inter IKEA Centre Group subsidiary, in chargewith developing real estate projects.
It is in the same Jilava, on {oseaua Giurgiului, that the plant'soperations have been relocated, with an office of Timpuri Noi beingregistered in the locality situated south of Bucharest inSeptember.
