Top 100 biggest companies controlled by Romanian entrepreneurs

Zoltan Teszari, shareholder of telecom group RCS&RDS, IoanNiculae, owner of Interagro and Cezar Rapotan of Arabesque Gala]iown the three biggest Romanian-controlled companies in the Romanianeconomy.
ZF has for the first time put together a ranking of the 100 biggestcompanies still in Romanian hands, with the ranking revealing thatthese companies employ 90,000 people and their turnover exceeds 45billion RON (10.6 billion euros), i.e. 4% of the overall turnoverof companies in Romania.
Although the Romanian economy boasts powerful entrepreneurs, thesize of companies they run is not very significant, especiallysince few were able to tap into Western European markets, pursuinga model that entrepreneur families in these countries currentlyapply in their expansion in Romania.
The leading Romanian entrepreneur, Zoltan Teszari, saw his businessreach 1,658 million RON in turnover in 2009, while net profit stoodat 212 million RON and the number of employees reached 6350. Thesecond leading entrepreneur, Ioan Niculae posted 1,323 million RONturnover in the same year, as well as 58 million RON in losses,while the number of employees stood at 274. Cezar Rapotan'sbusiness posted 1,304 million RON in turnover and 9 million RON inlosses, while the number of employees reached 2,673.
