Valvis seeks to gain market share on wine market

With 250,000 euros for the first promotion campaign and adistribution network that has gone from four people several monthsago to 25 at present, Jean Valvis, the entrepreneur who inked twodeals with Lactalis and Coca-Cola, hopes to gain market share inthe wine industry, a dwindling market in recent years.

In 2005, Valvis Holding took over Viti-Pomicola Sâmbureşti ofOlt, where it has invested 12m euros since. The first wines, calledDomeniile Sâmbureşti, reached shelves this summer. Valvis says50,000 bottles of Cabernet Sauvignon have been sold so far, in justseveral months since launch. At an average price per bottle ofbetween 24 and 27 RON, the value of sales revolves around 1.25meuros.

Valvis' businesses also include green agriculture, green energyand a new investment in the field of mineral waters. AquaCarpatica, currently present only on Auchan's shelves, is about tobe displayed in store networks, and investments in the project,grown from scratch, reach 15m euros.
