Signer of the ordinance, former Finance Minister SebastianVlădescu says a "natural" confrontation has emerged betweenclients' interest for a lower cost and banks' interest for profit, and positions will be balanced off gradually.

The hundred million euros in losses banks would suffer after theendorsement of Ordinance 50 on retail loans are an exaggeration andthere is no question of any lending institution leaving Romaniabecause of this law, Vlădescu states.
"I signed this ordinance as a minister and I agree with the rulesit sets. I believe saying banks will suffer major losses is anexaggeration, the ordinance has been operational for several monthsand I haven't seen anybody leave because of it. I do not believesuch a thing will happen, either," Vlădescu told ZF.
He believes the current tensions between bankers and their clientsare just a "natural" confrontation between the two sides'interests.
