Advertising sales of giant Yahoo! will definitely rise this yearin Romania, with encouraging results being recorded in the firsttwo months of 2010, say representatives of Media Cafe, a companyfounded in 2006, the only seller of advertising on the platforms ofthe American company on the Romanian market.
Last year, Media Cafe's turnover reached 2.5 million euros,double as much as in 2008, with 90% of it generated by thecampaigns conducted by local companies on Yahoo!. The AmericanInternet giant posted 6.46 billion dollars in overall revenues lastyear. In the first half of 2009, the Romanian online advertisingmarket amounted to 6 million euros, according to data from IABRomania and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
"We are growing, we gained market share and brought new clients.I don't think we will double our turnover this year, but we willdefinitely grow. Anyway, January and February are much bettermonths than last year, when almost nothing was happening and therewere only a few random clients. Now there are 30-50 campaigns underway on Yahoo! websites," Mihai Fanache, managing director of MediaCafe, told ZF.
